European Folk Day – September the 23rd
To mark a new nationwide day of traditional music under the banner of the Traditional Music Forum, two leading NE Scotland folk music community organisations are teaming up with the Elphinstone Institute, University of Aberdeen to host an exciting day of workshops and performances with some of Scotland’s leading folk musicians.
The day of singing, instrumental and group workshops will include networking over lunch and will culminate in an informal performance of the songs and tunes. Workshops will be targeted at the intermediate and advanced levels to develop individual skills and provide an opportunity to play and sing together with others. We are anticipating more than 50 participants.
The workshops will be inclusive of a range of age and gender, with a sliding scale of ticket price reflecting the ability of participants to pay in the current cost of living crisis.
The line-up of 6 tutors will include many of those world-class musicians who have worked recently with Scottish Culture & Traditions and The Dee and Don Ceilidh Collective.
