DESCRIPTION:Landscapes & Soundscapes from Ireland\nClare Sands navigates with unique power and creativity though the legacy of her ancestors’ Irish music. She combines traditional music with contemporary sounds and themes that inspire young and old\, the brave and the adventurous. Her family roots lie in County Wexford in the Republic of Ireland\, a region settled by Vikings\, and in Northern Ireland. At the age of three\, she began learning traditional Irish melodies on the fiddle from her father Seamus. Her mother Susan later introduced her to the blues. She studied music at University College Cork UCC and graduated with a Master degree with distinction in composition and creative practice from the Irish World Academy. Since then\, she has been electrifying audiences at her performances around the world with her groundbreaking “Fearless Folk” style. In 2022\, her first own album ‘Uncategorized’ was released\, which earned her a nomination for “Best Folk Singer” at the Irish Folk Awards.\nShe is accompanied by the young multi-instrumentalist Cian McGrory on the uilleann pipes and low whistles. He comes from County Down and also from a musical family: his mother is the well-known songwriter Brigid O’Neill\, while his father Bara and his aunts Clodach and Orla are well known in the traditional folk music scene. Habrá baile\, habrá conciertos\, habrá comida rica\, comunidad\, talleres de danzas y de música… \nDormir: \nTendremos dos posibilidades para dormir: habitaciones colectivas con literas (de 8 a 12 personas en cada una) o zona de acampada. No hay habitaciones dobles\, o individuales. \nSi lo prefieres\, puedes alojarte por tu cuenta pero no repercutirá en el coste de la entrada: el alquiler del sitio es por cada persona que entre\, y el programa no cambia si duermes fuera. \nComer: \nCENA DEL VIERNES \nEl viernes habrá una cena de “traje” (traje ésto\, traje aquello…): habrá solo un microondas y no hay nevera\, por lo que la cena del viernes tiene que terminar ese día y no hay un lugar para almacenar la comida del resto de días. \nRESTO DE COMIDAS \nTe animamos a comprar el “Bono Comidas” que por 25€ incluye comida de sábado\, cena del sábado\, comida del domingo y los dos desayunos. Further local and international acts are still to be confirmed. \nThe weekend promises an expertly curated mix of bands and solo artists\, folk dance troupes\, choirs and more. \nIndependent food and drink traders will be serving up favourites from around the Carpathian Basin\, from giant pans of goulash\, to the fried flat breads known as lángos and Transylvanian barbecued chimney cakes. Alongside craft beer\, there will also be a Hungarian wine stall\, a cocktail bar and a palinka (Hungarian fruit brandy) bar. \nFree activities in the family tent include music and dance workshops\, arts and crafts and storytelling. \nEstablished in 2017\, Góbéfest has its roots firmly in Transylvania\, but over the years has expanded its reach to cherry pick some of the finest performing artists from all over the UK and Europe. \nReturning to Cathedral Gardens\, the festival will for the first time be selling day or weekend tickets for the Friday and Saturday. They are guaranteed to provide an evening of beautiful\, energetic music for a concert or dance. Maarten Decombel (mandola and guitare) and Luc Pilartz (violin) join Toon and Pascale to create a musical universe with a festive atmosphere. \nLuc Pilartz is a very active musician in the folkscene since 30 years He was or is a member of many legendary belgian folkgroups as Verviers central\,\nPanta Rhei\, Trio Trad\, Musique à neuf\, Violon populaire en Wallonie\, Trip to Ireland… He also played as a guest with Urban Trad\, Ialma\, Carlos Nunez\, Photis Ionatos ( rebetiko )\, Perry Rose\, Faran Flad\, José Van Dam\, Bernard Foccroulle\, etc… He played a lot in Europe\, but he did as well many concerts in Canada and NorthAfrica. Luc is teaching the French bagpipes and the violin at l’Académie internationale d’été de Neufchateau. \nMaarten Decombel has had diverse musical tastes since his youth. He began playing music as a nine-year-old\, and discovered folk music as a teenager and studied classical guitar with Yves Storms\, then jazz guitar at conservatory. Now he plays with his bands Snaarmaarwaar and Göze\, and with Naragonia Quartet and MANdolinMAN. Recently\, Maarten has been working with his own trio and recorded the album “October Sunrise” on Home Records. In the past\, he has played with Griff\, Rémi Decker\, Urban Trad\, Christian Merveille and Les Tisserands. His concert performances have taken him throughout Europe and to China\, Canada\, and Japan. Maarten’s style is a unique pairing of driving energy and delightful lyricism. DESCRIPTION:Landscapes & Soundscapes from Ireland\nClare Sands navigates with unique power and creativity though the legacy of her ancestors’ Irish music. She combines traditional music with contemporary sounds and themes that inspire young and old\, the brave and the adventurous. Her family roots lie in County Wexford in the Republic of Ireland\, a region settled by Vikings\, and in Northern Ireland. At the age of three\, she began learning traditional Irish melodies on the fiddle from her father Seamus. Her mother Susan later introduced her to the blues. She studied music at University College Cork UCC and graduated with a Master degree with distinction in composition and creative practice from the Irish World Academy. Since then\, she has been electrifying audiences at her performances around the world with her groundbreaking “Fearless Folk” style. In 2022\, her first own album ‘Uncategorized’ was released\, which earned her a nomination for “Best Folk Singer” at the Irish Folk Awards.\nShe is accompanied by the young multi-instrumentalist Cian McGrory on the uilleann pipes and low whistles. He comes from County Down and also from a musical family: his mother is the well-known songwriter Brigid O’Neill\, while his father Bara and his aunts Clodach and Orla are well known in the traditional folk music scene. DESCRIPTION:Rootstown en GC De Wildeman stellen met veel trots de 4e editie van BUSKERfestival Herent voor. Deze muzikale wandeling trekt dwars door jullie geliefde Wildemangangen. In kleine groepen trekken jullie op ontdek­king door het gemeen­schaps­cen­trum. Bij elke tussen­stop staat er een muzikant uit de Rootstown-stal klaar om de deelne­mers te beroeren met 100% akoesti­sche liedjes. Afsluiten doen we op het hoofdpo­dium van De Wildeman met een rasechte roots-folkband uit USA. \nVolgende 3 acts spelen her en der op locatie in De Wildeman: \nFernant Zeste (B) \nFernant Zeste is indie blues\, bluesy singer songwriter\, op de grens van het instru­men­taal experi­ment. In 2024 tourt hij met een “best of” setlist van de voorbije 13 jaar. Ondertussen werkt hij al nieuwe nummers voor een nieuwe plaat. Een elektri­sche gitaar en een stem\, meer is er niet nodig. Melancholie wordt afgewis­seld met schijn­bare vreugde. Blues is nooit veraf\, maar geen traditi­o­nele blues\, en er wordt ver buiten de lijntjes gekleurd. \nMerijn Landuyt (B) \nAccordeon\, dulcimer\, bombardon\, lapsteel\, mandoline\, bugel\, analoge drumma­chine\, renais­san­celuit\, … het zijn maar enkele van de instru­menten die Merijn in de laatste jaren verkocht heeft. een gitaar heeft ie nog gehouden. songwri­ting oude school\, nieuwe stijl. voor fans van Leonard Cohen\, Jackson C. Frank\, Adrianne Lenker of the Tallest Man On Earth. een pure melodie\, beeldende teksten en een verhaal dat het uwe kon zijn. Gewapend met een eerste soloplaat reist deze Gentse trouba­dour doorheen gans Vlaanderen om zijn liedjes live aan de man/​vrouw te brengen. \nKatja Kruit (NL) \nCountry songs met een liefde voor steelgi­taar. Katja Kruit is zangeres en steel gitarist en brengt nu voor het eerst haar eigen songs. Ze heeft een voorliefde voor country­mu­ziek zoals die bedoeld is: drie akkoorden en de waarheid. Geïnspi­reerd door Bonnie Raitt\, Dolly Parton en the Chicks schrijft ze country liedjes met een vleug bluegrass en blues. Country­lief­hebber Kruit heeft Amerikaanse roots en leerde Dobro spelen in de USA. Ze werd verliefd op de klank van deze slide gitaar\, die in de country en bluegras­s­mu­ziek een zangerige\, resone­rende klank geeft. Ze leerde zichzelf de basis en volgde workshops bij grote ‘dobroi­sten’ zoals Rob Ickes en Sally van Meter\, en ontmoette haar held\, dobro-koning Jerry Douglas. Terug in Nederland nam ze zich voor om de country en bluegrass verder te verspreiden en speelde ze met verschil­lende bands op allerlei festivals\, zoals het Rotterdam Bluegrass Festival en het Knapsack Festival Delft. \nAfsluiter in de trouwzaal. \nReedy River String band (USA) – GREENVILLE\, USA\, bluegrass/newgrass. \nReedy River String Band speelt foot-stompin’ music in three-part harmony! Afkomstig uit Greenville\, South Carolina\, brengt de band een frisse kijk op Appala­chian rootsmu­ziek doordrenkt met elementen van rock-‘n-roll en jamband­mu­ziek. \nReedy River String Band heeft de afgelopen jaren het zuidoosten van de Verenigde Staten stormen­der­hand veroverd met hun frisse kijk op Appala­chian rootsmu­ziek. In 2023 trad Reedy River op op verschil­lende opmerke­lijke bluegras­sfes­ti­vals\, waaronder het Earl Scruggs Music Festival (EmmyLou Harris\, Infamous String­dus­ters\, Greensky Bluegrass) en het Charleston Bluegrass Festival (Leftover Salmon\, Molly Tuttle\, Keller and the Keels). \nHet geluid van Reedy River is moderne bluegrass met voetstam­pende elementen van jam en rock-‘n-roll\, geïnspi­reerd door de verschil­lende tour- en opname-ervaringen van de leden. In elke show wisselt multi-instru­men­ta­list Sterling Waite mandoline\, viool\, banjo en mondhar­mo­nica af om een scala aan texturen aan de liveop­tre­dens van de band toe te voegen. Met Rush Morgan op gitaar en Mark Dye op contrabas zijn alle drie de leden songwri­ters en leadzan­gers\, waardoor er een diepgang en variatie aan origineel materiaal ontstaat die verder gaat dan de relatief korte tijd dat de band samen was. \nSinds de oprich­ting in 2021 heeft Reedy River String Band in 2022 hun titelloze debuut­album uitgebracht en sindsdien twee singles uitgebracht\, “My Grass is Blue” en “Punkin Brown” in 2023.
