DESCRIPTION:Deze zondagnamiddag duiken we in de wereld van de Ottomaanse en Turkse klassieke muziek met het Makam Trio.\n\nVanuit eeuwenoude tradities en modale systemen\, de makams\, ontstaat een klanklandschap vol verfijnde melodieën\, microtonale intervallen en een diepe emotionele lading.\nMet ney\, oud\, tanbur\, percussie en zang verweeft het trio traditie en improvisatie tot een levend geheel: meditatief\, expressief en tegelijk verrassend hedendaags. Het resultaat is muziek die evenzeer raakt in stilte als in klank\, en die zowel kenners als nieuwsgierige luisteraars weet te betoveren.\n\nMakam Trio ontstond als een duo\, uit de muzikale ontmoeting tussen Mevlüt Akgüngör (ney en tanbur) en Robert Micin (oud). Samen met Hilde De Clercq (percussie en zang) brengen ze een selectie uit het rijke repertoire van de Turkse klassieke  en mystieke soefimuziek\,  waaronder taksim\, pesrev\, ilahi\, şarkı en sazsemai\, maar ook hedendaagse composities in diverse makams.\n\nDe drie muzikanten\, elk meester in hun vak\, delen een passie voor authentieke expressie en muzikale dialoog. Piper\, fiddler\, composer and endless experimenter\, he was one of Scotland’s most prodigiously gifted and beloved musicians until his untimely death at the age of 33. \nThis celebration of his life\, work and spirit is introduced by Martyn’s mother — singer\, folklorist and author Margaret Bennett — who shares a collection of photographs\, memories and music\, alongside previously unreleased recordings. A rare and intimate glimpse into other facets of Martyn’s character and musicianship\, including a Paganini duet played by Martyn and the inimitable Hester Dickson. \nJoining Margaret is Quinie — the performance name of Scottish artist Josie Vallely\, whose music blends traditional Scots song with bold\, experimental arrangements. Drawing inspiration from Scots Traveller singer Lizzie Higgins\, poet Marion Angus\, and the interwoven traditions of Scotland and Ireland\, Quinie engages with the living questions of how songs are learned\, remembered\, adapted and sustained across time. SUMMARY:Oriel Traditional Orchestra celebrate the music of the Irish Borderlands
DESCRIPTION:The Oriel Traditional Orchestra is a cross-border multi-generational musical grouping of about 60 members\, based along the eastern part of the Border in Ireland. We are passionate about the traditional music of this area\, formerly known as the Kingdom of Oriel (or Airghialla in Irish)\, comprising the counties of Louth\, Armagh\, Monaghan\, and parts of Meath and Down. Our innovative arrangements breathe new life into this ancient music. Our repertoire also includes pieces composed by orchestra members. \nThis event will be a combination of a no-holds-barred session with some of our arranged repertoire\, located on the North End Bar\, a bar that is at the heart of traditional music in Dundalk\, Co. Louth.

DESCRIPTION:The House of Traditions continues its series titled “Masters and Students.” We invite the audience to a special musical gathering where tradition\, the passing down of knowledge\, and the next generation come together on one stage.\nAt the next installment of our “Masters and Students” concert series\, you’ll have the opportunity to learn about the professional career of Balázs Unger\, a cimbalom player and folk music educator who has been awarded the Young Master of Folk Art prize and the Hungarian Silver Cross of Merit.\nMasters\, colleagues\, and students will perform together at the concert. Cimbalom player Jenő Lisztes\, who has been performing with Balázs Unger in the Cimbalom Brothers since 2017\, will also be featured. Joining the performance as a guest is Kossuth Prize-winning violinist István “Szalonna” Pál\, artistic director of the Hungarian State Folk Ensemble.\nTaking the stage will be Balázs Unger’s talented students: Benett Benedek\, a cimbalom player from Jászfényszaru\, and Sebő Sára\, a cimbalom player from Tura\, who are already shaping up to be leading performers of the next generation.\nThe six-member Cimbaliband provides the musical foundation\, whether performing authentic folk music or lively world music arrangements. The concert focuses on the relationship between the masters and their students\, the continuity of tradition\, and the joy of making music together. \n  \n

Volkskunstgroep Reynout vzw sluit hier naadloos bij aan en nodigt iedereen uit om in het weekend van 25 en 27 september 2026 gratis te komen proeven van volksdans en landsknechttrommelen. \n  \nErvaar de kracht van samen dansen\nOp vrijdag 25 september 2026 om 20:15 uur opent Reynout de deuren voor een sfeervolle open repetitie volksdansen. Bezoekers stappen meteen de dansvloer op onder het motto ‘al doende leren’. Ervaring is niet nodig: plezier\, beweging en verbinding staan centraal. \n  \nKrachtige ritmes: Maak kennis met de landsknechttrommel\nOp zondag 27 september 2026 om 10:00 uur volgt een open repetitie van de befaamde trommelaars en vendeliers van Reynout (#bekendevendeliers). De focus ligt die ochtend op het landsknechttrommelen. Met hun lange houten cilinders zorgen deze traditionele trommels voor een diepe\, krachtige klank die de marsmuziek tijdens stoeten en de indrukwekkende vendeloptredens ritmisch ondersteunt. \n  \nKennis van notenleer of muzikale ervaring is niet vereist; geïnteresseerden worden stap voor stap begeleid door ervaren leden. \n  \nEen bruisende vereniging in Grembergen\nVolkskunstgroep Reynout vzw biedt een thuis aan diverse traditionele disciplines: van volksdansen\, vendelzwaaien\, trommelen en klaroenblazen tot marionettentheater en stemmenwerk bij Theater Kalleke Step. Welcome to the launch of RaspeKlubb! \nThe concept has been drawing packed houses in the cities. It combines a crash course in folk dancing with a vibrant club atmosphere on the dance floor\, creating a full evening together with good friends\, including the ones you have not met yet. \nExpect some of the hottest sounds in folk music right now: a blend of traditional folk tunes and folk techno\, performed by local musicians. Electronica joins forces with the Hardanger fiddle\, accordion\, jaw harp\, and percussion in a slightly unlikely\, yet wonderfully danceable mix. \nOn Saturday\, 26 September\, Klubb Komle visits Teater Vestland to hand over the concept before RaspeKlubb continues on its own feet. The trio consists of Andreas Ljones\, Asgaut Bakken\, and Inge Gjevre\, three stalwarts of the Norwegian folk music scene. \nInge Gjevre is known from bands such as Jutullaget and Avbrekk\, as well as collaborations with Stein Villa\, Vegar Vårdal\, and Mads Erik Odde. He has also achieved numerous top placements in national competitions\, both as a solo performer\, in duos\, and in larger ensembles. \nAndreas Ljones is a fiddler and composer who has received the Spellemann Award and earned several top rankings in national fiddle competitions\, including the prestigious A-class at Landskappleiken. He is known from groups such as Frikar\, Camilla Granlien Band\, and Majorstuen. \nAsgaut Bakken is widely recognized as a guitarist with an impressive stylistic range\, from his collaboration with Odd Nordstoga in Blåmann\, Blåmann to bands such as White Trash Blues Band. He is also the creator of concepts such as Tuvas Blodklubb at Riksscenen in Oslo. \nAs Buss for Tog\, they put on their conductor’s caps and\, in the finest SJ Nord style\, steer the festivities onto the old-time dance track\, free from signal failures\, derailments\, or delays. \nBuss for Tog \n\nInge Gjevre – diatonic button accordion / accordion\nAndreas Ljones – fiddle\nAsgaut Bakken – guitar\n\nFeel free to bring your own instrument and join in when\, after the dance concert\, we open the stage for a traditional folk jam session. \nWelcome! \nIn collaboration with Trondheim Chamber Music Festival and Dokkhuset Scene.
