Hun har skabt sit helt eget univers ved at sammenblande udenlandske forbilleder som Nick Drake\, Sufjan Stevens og Leonard Cohen med sine danske rødder fra Carl Nielsen til Sebastian og tråde til engelsk folk. \n  \nDen prisvindende danske folk kunstner fejrer udgivelsen af sin tredje soloplade “Undersea” med en række koncerter med sit helt nye band “The Wondrous Sea”. Albummet udkom 6. oktober 2023 til flotte anmeldelser i både ind- og udland. \n  \nSangene til albummet er skrevet og indspillet i to gamle\, vindblæste sommerhuse ved Lønstrup og Venø Bugt\, midt i den kraftfulde\, nordvestjyske natur med havfugle\, rådyr og fasaner som eneste selskab. “Undersea” blev skabt med bare to mikrofoner og alle de instrumenter\, Ida kunne få plads til i sin gamle bil. Optagelserne emmer af stilfærdigt nærvær og solidt håndværk\, og lyden af havets brusen og den silende regn på ruden har fundet vej ind i musikken og understreger sammenhængen mellem sangene og den natur de er skabt i. \n  \nPå den nye plade har Ida Wenøe omfavnet en mere akustisk og ren folk-lyd\, men stadig med den kraft og kant i sangskrivning og tekster\, som er blevet hendes varemærke. Wenøe har selv skrevet\, indspillet og produceret “Undersea” med smukke instrumentelle bidrag på violin og mandolin fra Hal Parfitt-Murray og Samantha Whates på tværfløjte og harmonier. Dennis Ahlgren (Tina Dickow\, Teitur mfl.) har mixet\, og islandske Sigurður Guðmundsson har mastereret. \n  \nKoncerten starter med solo-performance v. DESCRIPTION:Landscapes & Soundscapes from Ireland\nClare Sands navigates with unique power and creativity though the legacy of her ancestors’ Irish music. She combines traditional music with contemporary sounds and themes that inspire young and old\, the brave and the adventurous. Her family roots lie in County Wexford in the Republic of Ireland\, a region settled by Vikings\, and in Northern Ireland. At the age of three\, she began learning traditional Irish melodies on the fiddle from her father Seamus. Her mother Susan later introduced her to the blues. She studied music at University College Cork UCC and graduated with a Master degree with distinction in composition and creative practice from the Irish World Academy. Since then\, she has been electrifying audiences at her performances around the world with her groundbreaking “Fearless Folk” style. In 2022\, her first own album ‘Uncategorized’ was released\, which earned her a nomination for “Best Folk Singer” at the Irish Folk Awards.\nShe is accompanied by the young multi-instrumentalist Cian McGrory on the uilleann pipes and low whistles. He comes from County Down and also from a musical family: his mother is the well-known songwriter Brigid O’Neill\, while his father Bara and his aunts Clodach and Orla are well known in the traditional folk music scene. DESCRIPTION:This event is for children and young people in Renfrewshire and is not open to the public. \nAbout the musicians:\nPenny James and Matthew Tighe are a classical and traditional violin/fiddle duo located in Glasgow. The pair studied classical music at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance\, where in a sea of classical musicians they found each other through a mutual love of traditional Irish and Scottish music\, which led to the formation of the duo in 2014. \nPenny has a great passion for orchestral playing and is currently the leader of the London City Philharmonic and the co-leader of the Ernest Read Symphony Orchestra. Matt released an award-winning album in 2017 under the Greentrax label and is currently training to teach the Alexander Technique. \nThey are pleased to join Live Music Now Scotland as they feel it is rewarding for them to elicit a positive reaction from people and they are really looking forward to meeting future audiences.

The emphasis is on entertainment\, though be warned – there may be tears among the laughs. \n‘Crampton has a great voice that entices and explains. He pulls the audience in like a magical toyshop owner.’ Folk Phenomena. \nMatthew worked widely with the late Paul Sartin and is a regular conspirator with The Young’uns. He’s examined the mechanics of singalong with his show Have a Banana!\, given voice to past migrants in his show and book Human Cargo\, and performs nationwide as a storyteller. DESCRIPTION:At last – your chance to have a go at the traditional English art form of Morris dancing. Come to the special taster session being run by the long-established morris team Mersey Morris\, on Monday 23rd September\, from 8 to 10 pm in Thornton Hough Village Hall (CH63 1JB). No prior dance experience is assumed. The session is free\, and open to all ages\, genders and fitness levels (although under-16s must be accompanied by a parent or guardian for safeguarding purposes). Toilets are available\, and there will be a mid-session break\, with biscuits\, to recharge energy levels. However\, you will need to provide your own drink\, as we have no access to the hall’s kitchen. Thornton Hough is served by the 487 bus route. DESCRIPTION:We welcome new members (singles or couples) or visitors with an interest in dancing. Beginners and experienced dancers are always welcome at any club night. We enjoy English Country Dances old and new\, American Squares and Contras and the occasional Scottish Country Dance.   If you have been to a barn dance or ceilidh you will have a good idea of what we do. At a club such as ours the range and style of dances encountered is much wider\, but just as much fun.   All dances are walked through beforehand to teach the figures\, and prompts are given during the dance. Our club callers have a lot of experience in teaching dances to beginners and more experienced dancers. The focus is on having fun\, dancing together\, enjoying learning the dances and dancing to the music.

DESCRIPTION:Vocal concert of students and teachers of the Conservatory. \nThe concert takes place on the occasion of the 2nd year of the international event The European Folk Day 2024\, in the first year of which in 2023 the University Library in Bratislava was the only institution from Slovakia to participate. The concert leans towards the idea of ​​The European Folk Day event\, which talks about folk music as a carrier of voices and stories of people\, nations and communities. Folk music preserves the culture of the past and evolves with each generation. Every generation of serious music composers also wants to respond to the legacy of folk music\, because the beauty of folk songs appeals to a wide range of listeners of all ages and educations. Composers of classical music respond sensitively to the creativity of folk musicians when they adjust their melodies for a trained human voice accompanied by one or more musical instruments. The combination of folk music with composers of serious music points to the unlimited possibilities of collaboration between creators throughout society\, resulting in new dimensions of culture\, taste and beauty.
