SUMMARY:Jauniešu Etnodienas 2026
DESCRIPTION:Youth Ethnodays (Jauniešu Etnodienas)\nFrom September 18 to 20\, young people aged 15–25 from across Latvia will gather in Ulbroka for the annual Youth Ethnodays — an event dedicated to the preservation\, exploration\, and popularization of intangible cultural heritage. This year’s event is organized in cooperation with the cultural center “Ulbrokas pērle”. \nSince 2010\, Youth Ethnodays have brought together young people from different Latvian folklore groups\, creating a space where traditional culture can be experienced\, shared\, and explored through the perspective of the younger generation. \nDuring the three-day event\, participants will have the opportunity to learn traditional singing with Asnate Rancāne\, leader of the group “Tautumeitas”\, and Edgars Zilberts\, leader of the folklore group “Vilkaci”. For the first time\, the programme will also feature international guest teachers — the American traditional music group “Interstate Express”\, led by Craig Judelman\, and Croatian singer Lidija Dokuzovic. \nTogether with the international guests\, participants will learn and perform traditional American dances\, make music together\, and explore the fascinating journey of traditional music from “old Europe” to America. This exchange will offer an opportunity to discover how traditions change\, travel\, and find new meanings in different cultural environments. \nYouth Ethnodays are created specifically with young people in mind. Traditional cultural heritage is explored in a contemporary and accessible way\, using forms of expression and communication that speak to today’s generation. Over the years\, the event has grown into a unique tradition in Latvia\, connecting young people from different regions who share an interest in traditional culture and creating a living network between them. \nBy discovering the musical traditions and skills of different regions\, participants can find new connections between their own experiences\, the traditions they represent\, and the music they perform. \nThe Youth Ethnodays programme will end on September 20 at 15:00\, when the participants will join the third European Folklore Day concert “Upes pērles” at the cultural center “Ulbrokas pērle”\, organized by the association “Skaņumāja”.

SUMMARY:Dragon Folk Club session
DESCRIPTION:The Dragon Folk Club offers a weekly sing-around style session. Our sessions on 18th and 25th September will both be within a week of the 4th European Folk Day. \nEveryone is welcome whether they perform or not. Performance can be of any type as long as it’s acoustic: sing\, play\, dance\, tell a story or joke\, recite a poem or monologue. We have our foundation in all types of “folk performance”\, but nothing is excluded. If you don’t perform then that’s fine: be our audience\, join in the banter\, and maybe sing along to a chorus or several. \nYou will find us almost every Friday from 8:15pm in the barn (just past the toilets) at The Bridge Inn\, Shortwood\, Bristol\, UK\, BS16 9NG. \nWe look forward to meeting you.

SUMMARY:11' Festival Le Vie dei Canti

Plus\, our ongoing partnership with Glasgow European Citizens Forum\, the European Movement Scotland and Moray House School of Education and Sport\, University of Edinburgh. Special support by the Citizens Rights Project.\n\n“We believe that the tradition bearers of Scottish Ceilidh would be delighted to share the stage and the dance floor with the traditions of the other cultures that have become an integral part of contemporary Scotland. Although there are regular and popular Ceilidh nights across the country’s village halls and cultural centres\, there are hardly any events that provide space for the folk fusion of Scottish Ceilidh with other world trad dances. Launched in 2024\, our Ceilidh Plus series has been changing this\, laying the common ground for a new tradition.” Iliyana Nedkova and Wendy Timmons\, Curator and Chair of the Traditional Dance Forum of Scotland\n\nFurther details about Traditional Dance Forum of Scotland: www.tdfs.org
