SUMMARY:Verbunk Day
DESCRIPTION:In the autumn of 2019\, the verbunk dance tradition was inscribed on the UNESCO National List of Intangible Cultural Heritage. This dance and the closely related tradition of the Csárdás dance is preserved by the Verbunk Day event series. This year\, for the 4th time\, the tradition-keeping all-day event will take place in Komárom and Sepsisentgyörgy across the border\, in Nyíregyháza and Kóny in Hungary and\, of course\, in the Hungarian Heritage House. \nHungarian Heritage House \nDuring the performance\, all ages from 8-year-old children’s soloists to 80-year-old traditionalists\, from amateur dancers to professional performers\, will perform. The Heritage National Folk Art Association for Children and Youth\, the Muharay Elemér Folk Art Association and the Hungarian State Folk Ensemble guarantee that from Gyimes to Rábaköz\, from Gömör to Sárköz\, our most beautiful verbunk and csárdás will be presented in this colourful and diverse show. \nThe programme will feature:\nHungarian State Folk Ensemble\,\nKecskemét Dance Ensemble\,\nThe soloists of the Szarvasi Solo Dance Competition\nNagyecsedi Rákóczi Kovács Gusztáv Traditional Dance Ensemble\nLajos Murguly\, Master of Folk Art \nGala edited by Norbert Busai \n#europeanfolkday  #europeanfolkday2024

DESCRIPTION:“Urban Wanderers” is a folk dance show that offers a theatrical experience in which the unique harmony of music\, dance and visual elements invites the audience on an immersive and unique journey between past and present. \nThe performance takes place in a symbolic space that changes constantly with the music. The audience can feel itself in a big city in Hungary\, in a country restaurant\, in a Transylvanian village\, at a Balkan dance festival or even in an American jazz club.\nAt the heart of the show is Ferenc Radics and his orchestra\, who play their instruments with incredible virtuosity and are able to interpret the long tradition of urban gypsy music\, here at the beginning of the 21st century. \nIn addition to music\, dance also plays an important role in the show\, with a colourful cavalcade of dance scenes that show the interweaving of tradition and innovation. The Hungarian State Folk Ensemble’s dancers add to the excitement of the rich musical tableau with traditional and modern dance elements and varied and diverse choreography. By interweaving the vibrant rhythms of Hungarian folk dance with the explosive energy of gypsy music\, the production is a kind of cultural wandering between the urban bustle and traditional rural life. \n#europeanfolkday  #europeanfolkday2024 \n

SUMMARY:Traditional Dance Life and Dances of Kétegyháza
DESCRIPTION:Zoltán Halmi\, folk dance researcher\, will give a lecture at the House of Traditions on the dance life and dances of Kétegyháza\, in which he will give a comprehensive picture of the dance culture of this village in the South Great Plain\, mostly inhabited by Romanians\, from the mid-20th century to the present day. \nThe lecture examines the relationship between individual dance skills and the community dance tradition in this Romanian community in Hungary\, and tries to place the ethno-ethnic characteristics of the village in the context of the Romanian community in the South-Eastern Lowlands. The focus is on dance calendars\, dance and music\, but also on costumes and their changes in the 19th and 20th centuries\, as well as on significant days\, beliefs and traditions of social gatherings. \n#europeanfolkday  #europeanfolkday2024

SUMMARY:Hungarian Heritage House Dance Hall - Grand Opening
DESCRIPTION:The Hungarian Heritage House continues its permanent dance-hall series\, still hosted in the Atrium\, every Saturday from 19:00 to 2:00 am. In the first sessions of the autumn season\, the audience can get acquainted with the dance tradition of Vajdaszentivány in beginners and advanced groups. \nSinging teacher: Annamária Szabó\nMusic will be performed by: Kollégák band\, Bálint Vizeli and friends \nIn our dance workshops we place great emphasis on teaching dance\, and those interested can learn the dances of a particular region from excellent instructors over several months. We celebrate the end of each cycle with a ball and invite local musicians from the region to each occasion. Talented folk singers will introduce you to the melodies of each region\, and the best-known dance bands will keep the dance music going until dawn\, providing a great opportunity for fun. \n“Our basic job is to be an introductory dance house\, which means that anyone who comes in off the street should go home with an experience and not feel that Hungarian dance is so difficult that I won’t even try it.” (László Kelemen) \nWe welcome all beginners and newcomers to our beginner dance classes!
