SUMMARY:Live Music Now Scotland Participatory Performance with Mairi McGillivray and Katie Allen
DESCRIPTION:As part of European Folk Day\, Live Music Now Scotland is sharing live folk and traditional music with pupils at a primary school in Paisley. \nFolk duo Mairi McGillivray and Katie Allen bring together voice\, fiddle and guitar\, putting their own style on songs and tunes from the tradition\, including Gaelic and Scots repertoire. Their performances draw on the richness and variety of Scotland’s traditional music while creating opportunities for audiences to connect with songs and tunes that may be familiar to them. \nMairi and Katie joined Live Music Now Scotland in 2023 and share a strong belief that everyone should have access to the joy of traditional music. Their work with LMNS takes them into schools and community settings\, where music can be experienced\, shared and enjoyed together. \nEuropean Folk Day celebrates folk music\, dance and storytelling across Europe\, recognising the living traditions that connect people\, places and generations. We’re pleased to be marking the day by sharing Scotland’s rich traditional music with a new generation in Paisley.
