SUMMARY:Scottish Flute Channel
DESCRIPTION:We will release a new YouTube video celebrating the on-going traditional music community in Aberdeenshire which is vibrantly creating new music in the old traditions. \nThis latest video from the Scottish Flute Channel features three tunes from the Aberdeen Collection.  This collection was collated and published by The Scottish Culture and Traditions Association in 2017 and celebrates new music being creating in or associated with Aberdeen on the East coast of Scotland. \n  \nThe tunes and composers are: \nThe Stroma Swelkie (Karen Steven) \nEight Inch Reel (Malcolm Reavell) \nDr John’s Retirement Reel (Laura Harrington) \n  \nThe Scottish Flute Channel would like to thank the FluteFling organisation for its help and support. \nPeter Saunders

SUMMARY:Upload rare live performances of Highland songs to YouTube
DESCRIPTION:Participants in the Highland Traditional Music Festival such as Andy Mitchell and Colin F MacKenzie performed live songs of note. I am starting a collection called New Rebels Ceilidh Song Book (the first one was in the 1960s) to encourage what Pete Seeger said. ‘Put songs on peoples’ lips not just in their ears’. \nI will include Andy’s THE CHANGES concerned with huge depletion of fish stocks  in his working life. Also NEW LIGHTS SHINING IN THE GLEN\, commemorating the Assynt Crofters successful bid to own their land in 1993. The first of many in Scotland. \nColin wrote and sang at many ceilidhs in North Sutherland. Unfortunately he died young in 1998. His song NO MAN’S LAND WELCOME THE STRANGER is a fitting tribute to an open\, inclusive Scotland.
