SiberWytch — Songs from the Northern Otherworld
Live from Norway for European Folk Day

For European Folk Day, SiberWytch invites audiences into a dark, intimate and atmospheric musical journey through the old stories of the North.

Broadcast live from Norway, this acoustic performance brings together voice, lyre and zither in original interpretations of Old Norse mythology, Scandinavian folk tales and the strange beings who have haunted the Nordic imagination for centuries. Through song and storytelling, SiberWytch reawakens the world of the völva, the forest spirits, the draugr, the huldra, the norns, the trolls, the dead, the dreamers and the gods who still whisper through mountains, rivers and winter woods.

Rather than recreating folk music as museum material, SiberWytch approaches tradition as something living, breathing and enchanted. Her music is rooted in folklore, myth and memory, but shaped through a contemporary, personal and poetic voice. These are not simply songs about the past — they are songs about the invisible threads between landscape, ancestry, grief, magic and survival.

Performed live with minimal instrumentation, the concert creates an intimate ritual-like atmosphere: the ancient sound of strings, the human voice, and stories carried across time. The lyre and zither give the performance a raw, archaic quality, while SiberWytch’s interpretations open the tales to a modern audience.

This special live-streamed performance celebrates the richness of European folk traditions while giving voice to the shadowed, mysterious and mythic heritage of Norway and the wider Nordic world.

Expect songs of:

Old Norse myth
Nordic folk tales
Mythical creatures
Women of magic and prophecy
The dead and the unseen
Forests, fjords, mountains and memory
Lyre, zither and voice

SiberWytch is the artistic project of Norwegian writer, singer, folklorist and performer Lena Heide-Brennand. Her work explores mythology, folklore, ritual, history and the strange beauty of the old stories that refuse to disappear.

For European Folk Day, SiberWytch sings from Norway — not as a reconstruction of the past, but as an invocation of it.
