Plus, celebrate Catalonia’s National Day (11 September) + the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the European Union in 2026 + the European Folk Day (23 September). Don’t miss your chance to learn traditional dances from across Europe on the same night. Share the joy through movement and music, be it Scottish Ceilidh, Catalan or Cypriot traditional dance, including Polca Castellera – the Catalan dance that accompanies the building of castells (human towers). You may have experienced it with team Colla Castellera d’Edinburgh who have being building castells in Scotland since 2015. Plus, Catalan castells and Polca Castellera were officially inscribed in the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list in 2010. Boom!
Keep an eye as we announce our hand-picked cracking band of Scottish dance callers and musicians, all with local, Cypriot and Catalan heritage, including Laia Puig I Espar, Elisabet Vives Requena and Cristina Maireles.
Plus, expect a pop-up food bar by Scotland’s Catalan Centre, including Catalan beer! Also, remember to pack your refillable water bottles to stay hydrated while dancing the night away!

“We believe that the tradition bearers of Scottish Ceilidh would be delighted to share the stage and the dance floor with the traditions of the other cultures that have become an integral part of contemporary Scotland. Although there are regular and popular Ceilidh nights across the country’s village halls and cultural centres, there are hardly any events that provide space for the folk fusion of Scottish Ceilidh with other world trad dances. Launched in 2024, our Ceilidh Plus series has been changing this, laying the common ground for a new tradition.” Iliyana Nedkova and Wendy Timmons, Curator and Chair of the Traditional Dance Forum of Scotland
