Gosto do Vira

The project “Gosto do Vira” (I like Vira, a traditional music/step in Portuguese folklore), developed by Grupo Etnográfico de Areosa,  has been going on for more than a decade, in Viana do Castelo. The 23rd of September 2026 is the first day of its 13th edition. The aim is to dance, dance and DANCE(!) with third and fourth graders at the local village school (in Areosa). Most dances taught are Portuguese, but the children also learn traditional dances from other parts of the world. Songs, visits to local historical places, learning about traditional costumes and local festivities are also part of this project.
