Workshop: POLICE, THIEVES, AND MUSIC
Crime and criminal investigations are among the world’s most popular topics for songs. For hundreds of years, stories about crimes and their investigations were preserved in long ballad-style songs. Fascinating crime stories traveled thousands of kilometers in song and were often translated into many different languages. In this workshop, we’ll explore a few famous sung crime stories from Finland and Europe and create our own fun adventure song called “Cops and Robbers” in the spirit of Finnish musician, writer, cultural provocateur M.A. Numminen.
