International Music Festival Sonamos Latinoamerica Cph – 25-28 September

From September 25 to 28, Union in Copenhagen will transform into a vibrant hub of Latin American music and culture. The ninth edition of Sonamos Latinoamérica offers four days of a rich and diverse program – from intimate concerts and musical talks to festive dance nights.

Over the past nine years, the festival has presented more than 120 musicians from 15 countries. This year, the audience will once again experience a wide spectrum of musical diversity – from Brazil’s deep roots to Colombia’s folk traditions and Argentina’s folk dances.

This year’s program presents both international and local artists:

• Thursday 25/9: Gaddafi Núñez (PE) – Music and literature in memory of writer Eduardo Galeano.
• Friday 26/9: Maia Castro (URU) – Tango, milonga, zamba. Music from the Río de la Plata.
• Saturday 27/9 (free talk): Priscilla Barbosa (BRA) – On the contributions of black Brazilian women to music beyond bossa nova.
• Saturday 27/9 evening: Aleteos (COL) & Priscilla Barbosa (BRA) – A sensuous journey through the musical traditions of two countries.
• Sunday 28/9: ForróNovo (BRA) & Munay (ARG) – Closing dance party with Brazilian forró and Argentine folk music.
