The Canberra Eurosession [concert]

When the world went online, Canberra’s musical horizons expanded. Our session leader, flautist Adam Fenech, was up in the early hours of the morning, meeting musicians and learning tunes from across the world over Zoom. With the help of ethnomusicologists, balfolk dance groups, and local Canberra musicians, we have created a session unlike any other. Our repertoire is a broad cross-section of folk dance tunes spanning centuries, borders and folk traditions from all corners of Europe, and in this concert as part of European Folk Day, we’d love to share it with you.

1. Since the time difference will mean that (like some of the sessions that inspired ours) it may prove to be during the unsociable hours of the morning, we will post clips of tunes from the concert on our Facebook page in the days afterwards.
